Calgary Airport Authority Challenger Cup   


On September 15, 2008 the Park hosted its' 3rd annual "Calgary Airport Authority Challenger Cup" at McKenzie Meadows Golf Course. Rotarians and non-Rotarians (108 golfers strong) enjoyed the warm glorious sunny day and raised over $60,000 for Challenger Park. The Rotary Club of Airdrie team under the leadership of Mr. Stewey Stuart won the Challenger Cup in the low net competition. We do want to thank all our sponsors and players for making the 3rd annual the best yet. Watch this website, early in the New Year, for details on our 4th annual in 2009." 2008 AGM   
Our AGM was held on May 28, 2008 during the lunch hour. A dellicious lunch was provided by the Park's Caterers, Safari Hut. Mr. Jim Burns was a special guest at the meeting. Don Ross presented him with a thank you photo plaque for he and his family's support and efforts during park construction over the years. Mr. Lou MacEachern received the same recognition but was unable to attend.

Family Fun Day at Calgary Rotary Challenger Park, June 21, 10am - 2pm

There was a great turn out to the family fun day this year. The event was co-hosted by Canadian Paraplegic, Challenger Little League and Calgary Rotary Challenger Park. We had many great volunteers to help make the day possible. There were visits from Star Wars Troopers, The Star Trek Klingons and Harvey the Hound. Attractions included, baseball games with Challenger Little League, Inside out theatre troop, Face painting and children's games, Wheelchair races through a course, wheelchair basketball, Butterfield Acres petting Zoo, visit from a firetruck, free photos with a western backdrop and a free lunch served by the Rotary Clubs. The “Everyone Can Play Fund” Subsidy Program NOW HAS EXPANDED


 
“The Everyone Can Play Fund” subsidy program launched in January 2007 and is now providing even MORE SUPPORT. This program is specifically designed for organizations who serve people with disabilities and/or those who are economically disadvantaged. We are happy to offer support to your group's TRANSPORTATION costs. The Calgary Foundation, through its' community grants program, has provided us funds to assist with this component.
As well we are PARTNERING with our newest tenant here at the Park. Renfrew Educational Services, will allow us to gain access to their bus network, subject to availability, if groups need an actual transportation service provider. So, ACCESSIBILITY to Calgary Rotary Challenger Park has now just gotten better. Please click the 'Everyone Can Play Fund' poster link below.

City of Calgary Fee Assistance Card

**We accept The City of Calgary Fee Assistance card for individuals and groups using our weight equipment.  Groups may also use their card towards booking space for running a program at the Park.


Subsidies

You may be able to access subsidy for your child to play sports through KidSport.  Kidsport subsidies are independant of Calgary Rotary Challenger Park. KidSport mission is, "To overcome the financial obstacles that prevent some young people from playing sport." Go to KidSport Website for more information or Download KidSport application here.
